Chris Yount named co-chair of USD's Family Business Center

Chris Yount, a successful owner of a family business in its 3rd generation, has been appointed as the co-chair of the Family Business Center (FBC) at the University of San Diego (USD). The FBC is a new program that aims to support and assist existing and aspiring family businesses, as well as to students aspiring to join their own family businesses.

 

Yount led Fortifiber Corporation, a 3rd generation family business focused on manufacturing waterproofing products for home construction. Yount has over 25 years of experience in leading and growing family businesses, as well as in mentoring and investing in other family business owners.

 

Yount is also an alumnus of USD, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1999. He has been an active and generous supporter of USD and also serves as Entrepreneur in Residence at The University of Nevada, Reno, where he teaches.

 

As the co-chair of the FBC, Yount will work closely with the FBC board, to provide strategic direction, guidance, and resources to the FBC. He will also help to promote the FBC’s programs and services to potential members, partners, and sponsors, as well as to engage with the FBC’s stakeholders and community.

 

Yount said that he is honored and excited to be part of the FBC, which he believes is a valuable and unique program that will benefit the family business community. He said that he is passionate about family business, as he has seen firsthand the challenges and opportunities that family businesses face, as well as the impact that they have on the economy and society.
